July and August.

During the past couple of months, I have found it a little harder to write about our happenings. It's not because of anything negative, it's the time of the year and the things we are wanting to accomplish. The summer is busy and these months proved it. Trying to develop recipes, videos, blog posts, and edit photos, there is little room for down time. I have been hard at work trying to get things ready for this fall and the winter to keep things going. Here are some sweet things that we have been up to!

July.

For July 4th, we decided to get away from all of the fireworks and the crowds and went to Boneparte Lake. It was our first time out there and we will be back. The temps were amazing and having a resort with food was a happy plus. Here is a little gallery of our trip.

On the morning of July 5th a decision needed to be made. Which way were we going to head back? We decided that since we were already all the way up north, we ought to just take the North Cascades Highway and drive through the park! It was a beautiful drive and only added an hour onto our trip. Sadly, about 2 weeks after we went through, they closed the highway because of wildfires.

Have you ever seen a concert in a zoo? Well we ended up being able to get some tickets to The Dead South @ Woodland Park Zoo. I wasn't able to get a ton of photos, and to be honest, this was the only one that actually turned out somewhat well. I will tell you that it's nice when venues will tell you what kind of cameras they allow in there. It was kind of nice not having to walk my camera back to the car.

August.

With the summer coming to a close, we had to figure out what the big trip we would take would be? We knew it wasn't going to be super far, but we defiantly wanted to see things that we hadn't seen before. Crater Lake National Park hit the bill. Crater Lake, is one of the national parks that has seasons to go. You can head to the park in the middle of the winter and it will be gorgeous, but you don't get the chance to drive around the rim. Leaving the Puget Sound area, we had a stop before we could get to Crater Lake. It's a place that I've wanted to go for a long time. Newberry Volcanic National Monument.

Walking through the lava flow was seriously cool. The way that the land changes is purely mesmerizing. You're just standing in the middle of this lava flow and imaging what this land must have been like during that time. Seeing the lava flow down the side of the mountain and just violently transform the landscape. Onward to Crater Lake National Park!

Don't worry, the trip didn't end at Crater Lake. We decided that we needed to see the ocean again. It had been a couple of years since we had been to the Oregon Coast, so we packed up the Gazelle, loaded the puppers, and away we went! First stop was the Rouge Gorge Viewpoint, and what a view it was!

We followed the map down through Grants Pass and headed into California. I think it's kind of funny, we enter into California only to never stop and head back up to the coast. I do enjoy the drive down US199, but it does add some time onto the trip. We entered Oregon and decided to try to find the first beach we could! Check out the photos of our last leg of the journey.

Thank you for reading and checking out the photos. I should have some more posts coming soonish!
