About Seas to Trees Adventures
Cir. 2000 - South Dakota - I bought my first real BMX bike. It was a Schwinn PowerMatic in Army Green. It was a beautiful bike that took me all over, and sparked a love for bikes. I've had many bikes over the years, but that first bike might have been my favorite.
- I took my first Photography class in High School. We learned the basics as well as how to develop film in dark rooms. It was a wild time and completely different than today. I spent so much money on film, paper, and chemicals just to find out that shots didn't work. It was a bummer for sure, but isn't so bad today.
- I had purchased a Canon PowerShot S2 and thought I would dip my toe back into photography. I was shooting anything and everything I could, and SO MUCH BLACK AND WHITE. (I secretly think that all Black & White photos are artsy.) Concerts, trees, my dogs, really anything.
- I moved from my hometown to Sioux Falls, SD. There my love of the two wheeled machine continued to flourish and I ended up starting a make shift bike Co-Op in my garage. I worked on bikes of friends and neighbors while learning to wrench. I felt I needed more, and that South Dakota wasn't enough.
- Westward! Leaving the Midwest for good, bound for the PNW without having ever stepped foot West of the Black Hills. Shortly after moving I was hired at Old Town Bicycle and made my way up through the ranks until I was managing my own store. Lots of stories, friends and fun were had.
- I decided that leaving the bike shop and looking for something bigger was needed in my life. I was hired at Diamondback Bicycles and I couldn't have been happier. I was working with bikes, for bikes, and finally within the industry!
- Seas To Trees Adventures was born, but I wasn't sure on where to go. I tried a couple of things, but nothing was sticking. Finally a friend asked me if I wanted to come and shoot his Cyclocross race, and that was it. I was hooked. Cycling photography was what I wanted to do.
- The bike industry bubble was bursting with smaller companies closing and Diamondback wasn't immune. We parted ways and I was left to decide what to do. So I decided to dive in a little more and see what we could make of this.
- First full year of Racing. I covered so much racing in 2025. From MTB to Cyclocross, and some random shoots in between. I also got a couple of shots of Loons!
- Only Time will tell....
